We are due to baptise my daughter (7m) in may. It has been delayed due to various sicknesses in the family which is why it is only happening now. When I found out I was pregnant I asked my sister to be my babies godmother and she initially seemed excited. However, my sister (26) didn’t check in with me much over the pregnancy and only came to visit (we live a few hours away) when she wanted to see someone she was dating and needed a place to crash.
Since my daughter was born my sister doesn’t seem to have much interest in her. She rarely asks me about her and has only been to visit once. She has met her when I went back home to visit as she lives with my parents but even then she never spent any real time with her.
In contrast my SIL (31) has been amazing to us, she always calls us to check up on us, we regularly do video calls, she buys cute little gifts (like 1st Christmas onesies etc) for my daughter and has really been there for us.
I just found out my sister can’t attend the christening as she’s working (she works in a clothes shop). My mother told my brother this but nothing has been said to me. I know we could get a stand in for her but I wonder seeing as she’s not attending if I would be a massive asshole to change godmother to my SIL
